Cerith Snail -
Cerithium atratum
These are the best
variety of Cerith Snail that we have found for use in a reef aquarium. These
consume algae including film algae and the red slime algae that form on the
base of the glass of many aquariums. The tiny black snail that is in the
lower right of this photo is what some have tried to pass off as Ceriths. It is called a false cerith
and we do not consider it to be of much use within a reef aquarium.
